Arapahoe Basin Wedding in the Mountains
There’s something wild about the high alpine regions of Colorado. Especially in the summer. Monsoon season always gives big, epic clouds and the threat of rain and thunder always looms at any time in the afternoon.
Kelsey and Cody and came from Nebraska, along with their friends & family, to say their vows amidst the alpine tundra and tall pine trees that make up the landscape above 11,000 ft in the Rocky Mountains. Arapahoe Basin is a busy ski resort in the winter, and in the summer they host weddings at a restaurant high up on the mountain, accessible by chair lift. Its an experience all of its own to be there.
We met Kelsey & Cody for the first time over drinks before shooting their engagements in Buena Vista, Colorado. Their love is inspiring and apparent and the way they talk about their daughter Serenity is admirable to say the least. When Kelsey recited her vows to Serenity at the ceremony and they planted an aspen tree together, nearly everyone in attendance was in tears.
And to take all of it up a notch, Kelsey & Cody put their wedding clothes back on the next day and we drove up to 14,130 ft to the summit of Mount Evans. We watched the sunset between thin clouds as they held tight on top of one of the Colorado fourteeners.
