Winter Elopement in Breckenridge Colorado

There's nothing quite as romantic as having an intimate ceremony in a cabin as the snow falls outside.

Katelyn + Eric flew in with their families from Chicago to have their wedding in a big house they rented in Breckenridge. Luckily, they made it into the mountains before the thick of the storm blew in. We met them at a coffee shop downtown and floated around snapping candids while they enjoyed breakfast together on the morning of their wedding. Afterwards we walked around outside while the snow came down in blankets.

Because of the snow, the officiant who was driving in from Denver was unable to make it. Katelyn asked her dad to marry them instead, and the personal stories and words of encouragement he gave drew me to tears from behind the camera. Their wedding was sweet and tender, and by the end of it all Nate and I both felt like family. Especially because they offered us a bed to sleep in that night so we didn't have to drive home in the storm.

I love intimate weddings. Maybe because that's how Nate and I did it. I don't know, but there is something so special about celebrating one of the most important days of your life surrounded by a small group of the people who mean the most to you. And for us as photographers, to be able to enter that space and capture it all always feels like such a huge privilege. Katelyn + Eric, thank you so much for opening your hearts and family and home to us. You two deserve each other.
