Adventurous Colorado Elopement

“I just keep thinking about how human all of this feels.”

There was something so simple and so profound about this elopement. At the end of the day when the last bit of alpenglow touched the summit of Mount Bierstadt, Ashley & Bradford shared their champagne with us and we each gave a toast, Ashley, Bradford, myself and Nate, and Orion (their amazing videographer), included. The five of us stood there waxing about love and life as the temperature dropped, and I don’t think it would be an overstatement to say we all felt immeasurably grateful, inter-spiritually connected to the environment around us.

What I love so much about Ashley & Bradford’s day is that it wasn’t flashy or overproduced in the slightest. It was perfectly beautiful, down-to-earth, and true. Ashley & Bradford had a first look in a sunny clearing with aspen trees surrounding them in the valley below Mount Bierstadt, Colorado. We hiked around a waterfall and followed Ashley & Bradford’s disposition as they danced in the falling leaves and played in the water. They said their vows in a meadow with a creek running through it before hiking through the views of Guanella Pass. The sunset was stunning, the weather was perfect, and none of that overshadowed the truth of the whole day.

I wrote a bit about their elopement shortly after we left that night and I’ll just copy it here:

“This is the good stuff of life. When they’re 20 years from this moment, and they take their future family here they can tell them how bright the alpenglow was and how cold it got as soon as the sun went below the mountains. They’ll tell them how they shed tears as they said their vows with only the pine trees and us there to witness it. They’ll bring them back to this spot and remember how real it was.”

Ashley & Bradford, congratulations. And thanks for letting us sign your marriage license ;)

We worked with one of our favorite videographers, Orion Pahl, on this elopement. He brings such an amazing vibe to a wedding day. I keep going back and watching this film over and over again because it makes me feel this whole day all over again.
