Colorado Mountaintop Anniversary Session in Buena Vista

Just as is typical with Colorado summers, the threat of afternoon storms lingered while we were shooting, adding just enough of a feeling of urgency to make it all feel like a real adventure. We drove to the top of Cottonwood Pass with Jenny & Jared, Nebraska natives who had never been at such high altitude before. The thin air, cool breeze, and setting sun made everything glow with a hint of the beginnings of fall.

Jenny & Jared recently celebrated their first anniversary and took their first vacation together to Colorado. We took them to one of our favorite spots and talked about love & marriage & everything we've learned as newlyweds. We ran around the trails that make up the Continental Divide Trail.

The whole time we were shooting we were aware of the clouds and started heading down the mountain when the clouds got darker and closer. On our way down the pass we saw a fresh dusting of snow that landed just in the hour and a half or so that we were on the pass. Colorado is kinda magical that way.
