Keela + Will // Silverton Colorado
San Juan Mountains ā Silverton, Colorado
Over a year in the making. An international destination elopement - pivoted - and replanned, stateside, with their closest people and most important values in mind.
Keela + Will are no strangers to adventure. A former wilderness guide and a world traveler, these two have been as far south as Patagonia and have slept countless nights on dusty grounds. This kind of experience is where their story began, and it was vital that their wedding day honor that. So in addition to a beautifully set meal in a stunning hotel, Keela + Will made sure that their love of nature was part of their day.
We started their day by hopping into their off-road-ready truck and driving to the top of a mountain pass before dawn. Keela + Will changed clothes and hiked out to a mountain overlook. They said their vows privately to one another while the sun came up behind them.
Iām sure these two have seen their share of sunrises ā some breathless while hiking into the mountain air ā but this time, wearing suit + dress and exchanging lifelong promises, was perhaps the most memorable one yet. To take it all in, we settled in for a breakfast picnic before driving back down the mountain.
It rained that day, a lot. Undeterred, Keela + Will and their families went out with umbrellas in hand. They had their ceremony in a grassy meadow near town while the rain slowed and eventually stopped. It was calm and quiet as Keela + Will exchanged rings and made their union official, including their families in as much of their ceremony as they could.
A romantic candlelit dinner awaited us at the Wyman (the stunning historic hotel their families stayed at for the weekend). There were wine pairings and artfully-plated entrees, a decadent cake, music. No detail was left out for their intimate reception. Elsa from Heirlooms Design and Marje from Linnaea Flowers partnered on a beautiful reception design for this group. Photographing work from such talented artists is always a massive inspiration.
Congrats Keela + Will, on throwing one hell of a wedding and not compromising on a single thing. Thank you for letting us be part of it.
