Amber + Tyler // Yukon Territory

Kluane National Park

Haines Junction, Canada -

We’ve been to lots of faraway places, but we’ve never photographed a wedding in a place quite as remote as this. We spent many days driving up the West Coast, over 50 hours of driving from where we live Joshua Tree to this far northwest corner of the Yukon Territory. Our lovely couple, who are no strangers to the need for bush planes and long distances, wanted to celebrate their story in a place that felt like a true adventure.

We worked with the always lovely Wildly Collective, who absolutely impressed us all with their ability to put on a stunning event in such a faraway place.

With just 13 of their closest family members, Amber + Tyler planned their wedding to be intimate and adventurous, while still being luxuriously celebrated. Despite the logistics involved in planning a wedding in such a remote place, no detail was spared – there was an incredible 7 course dinner served inside a candlelit prospector’s tent set on private land just outside the national park. There was beautiful vintage furniture and string lights, live music, and a champagne bar – all for this close knit group who ventured so far to reach this place.

We spent two days celebrating with Amber + Tyler. The first day we hiked a steep ridge with just the two of them, where they said their handwritten vows privately under the light of the midnight sun (quite literally, the sun didn’t set until 11:30pm that night, and it never actually got dark). Golden hour, alpenglow, and blue hour actually all last several hours – a photographer’s dream.

There is something to be said about leaving your normal routine and going somewhere not easy to reach – this type of travel always inspires me, takes me out of my head and into my body. What a gift it can be to push your closest people to experience that too, to make your wedding an experience people will never forget, a fond memory of a distant place, with mountains and campfires and no cell signal for miles and miles (or kilometers in this case).

big congrats to Amber + Tyler. What a place to get married!
