Velda + Freddy // Joshua Tree
maternity photos in the desert
TWENTYNINE PALMS, CALIFORNIA -
Velda + Freddy. All the way from Singapore. They snuck away to the desert during a business trip to the States to commemorate 10 years of marriageβ¦and to celebrate their brand new baby on the way.
We met them at their airbnb in Twentynine Palms β a fully off-grid tiny home set back into the hills on the northeast side of Joshua Tree. Bold, minimal, airy, the place complemented the desert surroundings with ease, without distracting from the desertβs arid beauty. The place even had a bed on an open air balcony for optimal star viewing. A perfect place to escape, reflect, and reset for the upcoming arrival of their baby.
They each dressed up for the occasion, Freddy in the same suit he wore on their wedding day, and Velda in a white silk dress. They renewed their vows in an open area between the tiny house and the mountain behind it.
To end the evening, we took a quick drive into Joshua Tree National Park to watch the sun go down. The light shone a soft pinky-orange on the boulders as we explored. Having never seen a landscape like this, Velda + Freddy were enthralled with the wild boulder stacks and the life growing between them.
Sometimes I forget just how beautiful a landscape we live in, until weβre with people who remind us of the surprise and wonder a place like this one brings.
