Nic + Kels // the Morada Joshua Tree

MOJAVE DESERT, CA

Kindred spirits.

That is how I would describe feeling being part of this two day wedding celebration. Nic + Kels put their heart and soul into their weekend with family, and we felt like an extension of that. It is never lost on me what a massive privilege that is, and what great Art can come from being generously welcomed, trusted, valued by the people you’re photographing.

Places like this speak so profoundly all on their own. It’s an undeniable wonder to stand amongst a desert so old and so mysterious, and the thought of beginning such a momentous life occasion here…it quickly cuts right to the heart. No distractions. No fussy buildings. Just the quiet breeze of a spring day among a place that’s had a millennia of days just like this one. Nic + Kels stood between two Joshua Trees and humbly muttered vows to each other.

It is truly the wonder of wonders, the thing that keeps us right here, doing this exact work. This sense of longevity, of us measly humans attempts at love, of place, of ceremony, in places that make us feel small and grand all at the same time — humans have been doing this exact type of thing for as long as we’ve been around on earth. And it still feels novel and revolutionary to do so.

We absolutely love weddings like this one.
