Romantic Adventure Wedding at Piney River Ranch

A bride in a princess dress who isn't afraid to kick off her shoes and scramble over some rocks is my kind of bride. Cydne & KC's wedding was intimate & romantic, yet felt so adventurous and wild. We rode in a bus for an hour down a rough dirt road through pine forest to arrive at Piney River Ranch, which is by far one of the most beautiful venues we have ever been to. The venue is perfect for an adventure wedding, the accommodations are safari tents & cabins, there is no cell signal, there are hiking trails, and the place is equipped with canoes & kayaks and anything you'd ever want to give your guests a real outdoors experience. Cydne & KC made sure to take full advantage of all of these things on their wedding day.

The truly off-the-grid feel of their wedding was a true respite compared with the stress these two had been dealing with over the weeks preceding the wedding. Cydne & KC are from Houston and just about a week before the wedding, Hurricane Harvey hit, sending much of greater Houston into historic flooding and crisis. Cydne & KC were out of town when it hit which was good, but it meant their flights home got canceled and they weren't able to go home before the wedding. They had friends get into their house and get her dress and rings and all the wedding decor. Among the chaos, a few of Cydne's friends lost homes, cars, and other possessions.

The location and they way these two coordinated their day made it feel like there wasn’t a single thing in the world except the mountains, pure love, and shared community. The warmth of the sun shining on them during the ceremony just after the rain seemed almost too good to be true. During the reception, there were moose crossing in the meadow beyond the lake. I’m not an overly sensitive person, and to say this wedding felt like magic might even be an understatement.
